Rene Marie Russo was an American actress, director, and supermodel. In addition to her graceful appearance, her steady success in the competitive film industry can be attributed to her talents as a performer. Her professional career started as a model for fashion in the year 1970 her rise quickly to prominence. Following her studies in acting Russo started her modeling career in Los Angeles. She made her debut as a professional at the age of 18 in the Invicta Fighting Championships at which she won two fights via submission. Dana White, who was paying close attention to her at the time, signed Rose in the UFC strawweight division in December 2014. She was just turning 22. Rose has had highs and lows in her career, however, she has always come out victorious. Rose was a fighter against Carla Esparza on April 15, 2015, for the Women s Strawweight Championship. Rose also made MMA historical with her fight as she became the first woman to challenge for a champion title at any organization of note.
